E-ticket = E-Issues

Pianos Becomes The Teeth - Sound Control - Manchester - 30.1.15.

On a cold, and calculating winter evening in Manchester i embarked on my first gig of 2015. The short trip to Manchester was met by a comforting visual in 'Sound Control's' basement (as shown below).

Luckily walking through didn't reveal itself to be a serial killer treasure trove, but in fact the support act 'Silver Snakes' where most of the way through there set. I managed to snag a quick photo before they finished.

Onto the main course.

Swiss Toni

A trip to Switzerland last week decreased my time to listen to albums/EP's, but it did mean i could take in some gorgeous scenery!

36 Crazyfists - Time And Trauma

This week's pick is a case of pure nostalgia!

Other album's i listened to in my headphones the last seven days + nights:
Ibeyi - Ibeyi
Jose Gonzales - Vestiges And Claws

Waxahatchee - Air
A calm collective to help smooth the discontent of a delayed flight.

 Doves - The Storm

A track that dazzles with it's many directions.

It's Yersel!

Rone - Creatures

Another quiet week in terms of good albums. This little number snuck in at the last minute to reward my patience. I can't see it making my end of year list, but it was a nice enough piece of French electronic.

Other album's i listened to in my headphones the last seven days + nights:
John Carpenter - Lost Themes
Kodaline - Coming Up For Air
Peace - Happy People
The Districts - A Flourish And A Spoil
Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear
Sun Hotel - Rational Expectations

Hot Chip - Huarache Lights

After 2012's 'In Our Heads' 'Hot Chip' return with another smart dance number.

Muse - Meglomania

If there was a space theatre then 'Muse' would headline it. They would close with this song. It would be out of this world!

We Need To Talk About....

The Dodos - Invidid

Not much in the way of interesting albums this week. Most of this week's albums seemed to float away not leaving any traces of merit. 'The Dodos' get album of the week as this record held my interest throughout the 9 song tracklist.

Other album's i listened to in my headphones the last seven days + nights:

Aqualung - 10 Futures
The Phantom Band - Fears Trending (EP)
Gaz Coombes - Matador
Natalie Prass - Natalie Prass
All We Are - All We Are
Indiana - No Romero
Title Fight - Hyperview
You Blew It! - Pioneer Of Nothing (EP)
Murder By Death - Big Dark Love

East Indian Youth - Carousel

'William Doyle' taking his music to the next level with this slow electronic burner epic.

Bloc Party - Helicopter
Even after 10 years this song sounds fresh. Still sounds like a band that's just come of university with a lot of anger.

Uptown Kerplunk!

Pond - Man It Feels Like Space Again.

A mad hatter of a album from aussi psych rock outfit Pond.

Other album's i listened to in my headphones the last seven days + nights:

Menace Beach - Ratworld
Milo Greene - Control
The Sidekicks - Runners In A Nerved World
Siskiyou - Nervous
Vietcong - Vietcong
Mark Ronson - Uptown Special
Amen Dunes - Cowboy Worship (EP)
Emmy The Great - S (EP)
Twerps - Range Anxiety
Pinkshinyultrablast - Everything Else Matters

Caravan (Whiplash Soundtrack)

Even thou this inst a fresh track (Originally released in the 30's) I heard this number for the first time whilst watching 'Whiplash'. The four and a half minute drum solo is mind bending, and leaves you breathless.

M83 - Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun

M83 where one of the first acts to make me look at music in a different way. This album was a landmark moment for me, and this song especially helped in the ascension of the music i listen to today. I would dare anyone to listen to this song, and feel anything towards it.

Birdman (Or: The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance)

January has been a very good month for films in the UK. 'Birdman' kicked the new year off in remarkable style. The impression of a single take movie gave the film it's own unique feel. Thou it's the performances, and the complex plot that really stand out.

Other movies seen in January:
Foxcatcher
Ex Machina
Whiplash

Coming up this week will be a post about my first gig of 2015.
